Mirror neurons explain why humans empathize

Your friend wrinkles her face with disgust while tasting some food, and seeing her, you too feel the same disgust.

Such feeling often occurs to us when we can immediately and instinctively understand other people’s experiences and feel as if we too are going through the same. This phenomenon occurs due to the presence of mirror neurons in our brains. When someone engaged in a particular activity feels and reacts in a certain way, we too derive the same feeling on seeing that person – a condition caused by mirror neurons. Extensive research on mirror neuron has helped scientists understand the neurological explanation of social interactions.
